St. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Yankees continue to use a patchwork outfield with Nick Swisher and Brett Gardner out of the lineup.

Austin Kearns will take Gardner’s spot in left tonight against the Rays, while Colin Curtis fills in for Swisher in right. Gardner said he is still feeling pain in the wrist, where he received a cortisone shot Monday.

“Feels a lot better today,” Gardner said. “They don’t want me to swing a bat. I expect to swing tomorrow.”

But Gardner, like Swisher (knee bruise), may still be days away from getting back in the lineup.
