With James Kaprielian’s season lost to Tommy John surgery Chance Adams is considered by some to be the Yankees’ top pitching prospect and Friday the right-hander was elevated from Double-A Trenton to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
“His talent got him to the next level,’’ general manager Brian Cashman said of the 23-year-old who was 4-0 with a 1.03 ERA in six games for Trenton. In 35 innings the fifth-round pick in the 2015 draft allowed 23 hits, fanned 32 and walked 15.
Tyler Austin, out since before spring training because of a fractured left ankle, could begin playing in minor league rehab games soon.
“If all goes well [he could return] by the end of next week,” minor league head Gary Denbo said before the Yankees’ 5-1 loss to the Astros.
