He’s back.

The Yankees have changed their plans and inserted Aaron Judge into Tuesday’s starting lineup as they take on the Red Sox in The Bronx. He’ll play right field and bat second as Brett Gardner will sit against Nathan Eovaldi.

Judge was not expected to be in the lineup when the game was a matinee, but rain pushed the start time from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., and apparently the Yankees had seen enough to allow Judge his first at-bats since July 26.

Tuesday morning, many Yankees executives and manager Aaron Boone gathered to watch Judge’s simulated game, in which he faced off against Adonis Rosa to test the broken wrist he is recovering from.

Judge had returned to action in a Sept. 14 game but only played the field.
