The Yankees right fielder tried to score on Russell Martin’s slow dribbler to the mound in the sixth inning, but Nationals pitcher Jordan Zimmerman barehanded the ball and threw home. Swisher slid, was tagged out by catcher Jesus Flores and walked back to the dugout looking somewhat gimpy.

He was taken out thereafter and replaced by Andruw Jones. Swisher was later diagnosed with a bruised quad, according to the YES broadcast.
