The Yankees lost much of their high-end minor league pitching depth at the trade deadline — including Ken Waldichuk in the deal that brought Frankie Montas and Lou Trivino from Oakland. Waldichuk is reportedly set to be promoted by the A’s from Triple-A Las Vegas and could make his MLB debut this week.
To make up for some of that deficiency at the minor league level, the Yankees signed three right-handers to minor league deals on Tuesday and assigned them to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Chi Chi Gonzalez, 30, has a 6.87 ERA in 18 innings with the Twins and Brewers this season.

The Yankees also signed Jacob Barnes, 32, who appeared in 22 games out of the Tigers bullpen and had a WHIP of 1.452 before also being released last week.
Wilking Rodriguez, 32, also signed. He hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2014.
