The Yankees have added some organizational catching depth with Gary Sanchez out with a groin strain.

The team acquired minor-league catcher Brian Navarreto from the Twins for cash consideration, according to multiple reports.

Navarreto, 24, was hitting .177 at Double-A Pensacola in 40 games this season.

The Yankees called up Kyle Higashioka from Triple-A to take Sanchez’s place, while Austin Romine will get the majority of the starts. Sanchez suffered the injury Tuesday night against the Twins and it’s unclear how much time he will miss.
