The Yankees’ injured list is getting crowded again.

DJ LeMahieu landed on the 10-day IL on Sunday with a sprained left thumb suffered on a swing in Saturday’s win over the Red Sox.

The Yankees now have three of their top hitters on the IL, with LeMahieu joining Aaron Judge (right calf strain) and Giancarlo Stanton (left hamstring). The three have the highest OPS in the Yankees’ lineup.

Miguel Andujar was recalled from the team’s alternate site in Scranton to take LeMahieu’s spot on the roster.

Aaron Boone said the Yankees were encouraged by the results of imaging done following Saturday’s game and added LeMahieu didn’t suffer a broken thumb.

Boone declined to put a timetable on LeMahieu’s potential return, citing the need for a second opinion from the hand specialist that treated LeMahieu when he had a similar injury and missed 2 ½ weeks.

That opinion is expected Monday, but sources indicated Sunday that the organization doesn’t expect to find anything more serious in the second opinion.

“Right now, it’s just a sprain, not broken,’’ Boone said. “We’re in some ways a little bit relieved. We were kind of fearing for the worst last night. … We want to make sure everyone is seeing what we believe we’re seeing.”

Boone added the team was “somewhat encouraged by the early news.”

Judge called LeMahieu “the catalyst of this offense.”

“It doesn’t matter the situation, the time of the game, what’s going on, how he’s feeling, he’s gonna go up and give a quality at-bat,’’ Judge said. “He’s gonna get the offense started. Missing a guy like that, like an MVP, is gonna hurt, but I know we’ve got a lot of guys waiting to fill that role and step up for time being until he comes back.”

Tyler Wade, who replaced LeMahieu at second base Saturday night, was back at second Sunday, with Gleyber Torres remaining at shortstop.

The decision to recall Andujar was simple, according to Boone.

“He’s a really good player,’’ the manager said. “There was no other conversation other than Miggy.”

Andujar was just 1-for-14 in five games before he was sent to the alternate site in Scranton, unable to find playing time with Gio Urshela at third, as well as Mike Ford serving as Luke Voit’s backup at first.

With Thairo Estrada already on the roster, Andujar could run into the same issues this time around.

“There’ll be some opportunities and it’s about taking advantage of those,’’ Boone said of Andujar’s role.

Boone pointed to Boston starting left-hander Martin Perez on Monday and said there was a “good chance” Andujar would be in the lineup.

“If he gets it rolling, we know what he’s capable of,’’ Boone said.

Andujar’s return comes a day after hitting coach Marcus Thames said he remained confident in the 25-year-old.

“Miggy basically missed the whole year last year and this year just didn’t get enough at-bats,’’ Thames said Saturday. “He’s still a really good hitter. We believe that, he’s shown that. He’s just got to get the chance to play. … He’s gonna help us at some point this year.”

That point came sooner than the Yankees would have liked and the team will no doubt feel the loss of LeMahieu. They’ve survived the losses of Stanton and Judge, in part due to the continued success of Mike Tauchman and a strong start from Clint Frazier since his return from the alternate site.

But as James Paxton noted after LeMahieu got hurt, “Obviously, DJ can’t be replaced.”
