TAMPA — Mark Newman, a Yankees senior vice president in charge of the minor leagues, was charged with a DUI late Monday night.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Web site, the 60-year-old Newman was arrested at 10:56 p.m. on northbound Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa.
Newman, who has been with the organization for 22 seasons, was released after posting a $500 cash bond.
The team released a statement last night.
“The New York Yankees do not condone this kind of behavior,” the statement said. “We take this situation seriously and we are looking into the matter. We will have no further comment at this time.”
GM Brian Cashman or Newman didn’t immediately return phone calls.
