Comedian/TV personality John Oliver’s twist on the locals: “As a sports fan in England I knew it’s just not acceptable to come to America and support the Yankees. It’s not OK. By default I was a Mets fan because I knew being a Yankee fan was the wrong thing to do morally. They are the biggest, elitist a–holes in all of sports.”

Blimey! Oliver, who rakes in $5 million (U.S.) a year for his TV show alone, knows it’s all about “the benjamins” and we will look to make a couple at the Stadium this afternoon. Elitist Yanks have left the Red Sox behind and have built a sizable cushion on Tampa Bay. James Paxton made it back-to-back wins, allowing three runs over his past 11 innings while striking out 14. Jays are in town. Trent Thornton, 2-5, pitched well against the Bosox last week and has a 2.96 ERA on the road as opposed to his 6.39 in Toronto. Jays jumped Paxton for four runs in 4 ²/₃ innings earlier this month. Not today. 10 units on the Yanks.

Bravo! Braves edged the Cubs 3-2. Managed just three hits but one was a two-run Ozzie Albies homer. Max Fried went six to get the W. Streaking. Up +2 galarragas.
