The Yankees can advance to the ALCS with a Game 4 win.

The Bronx Bombers got the best of the Royals with a 3-2 victory in Game 3.

Yankees ace Gerrit Cole is expected to start tonight against Michael Wacha.

Neither starter pitched well in the series opener, with a combined six earned runs in a 6-5 Yankees win.

New York opened as Game 4 favorites (-150 via Bet365) and would face either the Tigers or the Guardians in the ALCS if they win.

Bob Costas rambled on in odd Kevin Bacon-Aaron Boone comparison in final ALDS inning

By Andrew Battifarano

The Yankees and Royals were providing enough drama in ALDS Game 4 in a tight ballgame on Thursday night in Kansas City, and fans were on the seats watching.

Bob Costas, the legendary broadcaster, thought it was a good time to bring up actor Kevin Bacon.

Baseball fans were not exactly thrilled.

Vaccaro: Starved New Yorkers can dream about a Subway Series again

By Mike Vaccaro

We will try to be respectful here because there is still much work ahead before we can talk about this for real. The Yankees rid themselves — and their city — of one impediment, the Kansas City Royals, by eliminating them at Kauffman Stadium on Thursday night, 3-1, wrapping up a thoroughly businesslike 3-1 American League Division Series.

So they are four games from their first World Series bid since 2009, and they’ll merrily watch the Guardians and the Tigers on Saturday and hope that they play about 5½ hours and burn through both bullpens.

Maikel Garcia seemingly 'tried to injure' Anthony Volpe in benches-clearing incident: Jazz Chisholm

By Bridget Reilly

Jazz Chisholm Jr. shed some light on the dust up between the Yankees and Royals in the sixth inning on Thursday night.

As Maikel Garcia was running into a force out, Anthony Volpe tagged the Royals player in the chest and it led to a physical run-in at second. To confirm the out, Volpe put his glove on Garcia's chest, which wasn't appreciated by Garcia.

The interaction didn't please third baseman Chisholm either, and both benches and bullpens ran out onto the field.

“I just felt like he tried to go injure Volpe bc. he was being a sore loser," Chisholm said of Garcia after the game. "He was talking a lot on Instagram & Twitter & stuff. I do the same thing, but I’m not going to try to go injure somebody if they’re winning a game. I didn’t like that."

Garcia was dragged from the scene by Gleyber Torres.

Yankees shower ALDS villain Jazz Chisholm with boos and bubbly

By Christian Arnold

The Yankees poked fun at the cold reception that Jazz Chisholm Jr. got from the Kansas City crowd during their champagne celebration after punching their ticket to the ALCS.

The Yanks knocked off the Royals on Thursday night in Game 4 in a 3-1 win, and inside the clubhouse, teammates doused Chisholm in champagne while booing him — a nod to the jeers Royals fans had been giving him while at bat in the series — which was something that the trade deadline acquisition loved.

“Oh, we love it,” Chisholm could be heard saying in a video posted by MLB.

Aaron Judge is excited for a New York-heavy postseason

By Bridget Reilly

New York has two teams headed to the ALCS, which will make for a lively environment over the next couple of weeks.

"It's gonna be exciting. The Mets have had an incredible season," Aaron Judge said. "I know they didn't start off the way they wanted to but they've got a great manager over there in Carlos Mendoza....There's been so many games where it has been battling back and forth back and forth, and all of a sudden the sixth, seventh, eighth, you're down to your last out and guys come up with big hits. It's a testament to Carlos....It's gonna definitely be a fun time in New York and they're having a great season and it'll be fun to look forward to it down the road, getting a chance to face them again."

2023 playoff-less Yankees fueled 2024 ALCS-bound group: Aaron Judge

By Bridget Reilly

It was a simple answer for Aaron Judge.

After the Yankees ended their regular season in Kansas City last year with no postseason to look forward to, they didn't want to have that same feeling every again.

They made sure of that with an ALCS clinch in four games over the Royals.

Giancarlo Stanton had his heroic fingerprints all over ALDS win

By Dan Martin

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A few more playoff games like this and no one will be able to complain about Giancarlo Stanton’s contract — or his baserunning.

Stanton was out for more early batting practice Thursday after hitting the go-ahead homer in Game 3.

And while Stanton didn’t go deep again in the clincher, a 3-1 victory over Kansas City, the DH delivered again.

Aaron Judge’s bat shows signs of life in funk-snapping ALDS clincher

By Ryan Dunleavy

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Aaron Judge picked a good time for his first extra-base hit of the playoffs.

Shortly after his unlikely nemesis, Michael Wacha, was chased from the game by Gleyber Torres’ RBI single, Judge led off the sixth inning Thursday with a double to left-center field and scored on the sizzling Giancarlo Stanton’s single up the middle of a drawn-in infield.

Judge drew two walks, reached base three times and stole a base as the Yankees eliminated the Royals and advanced with a 3-1 victory in Game 4 of the ALDS.
