TAMPA — After dealing with a battle with COVID-19 during the offseason, Zack Britton is now fighting an elbow injury.

The left-hander underwent an MRI exam Monday after he experienced soreness following his bullpen session on Sunday, according to Aaron Boone.

The manager said it was his “understanding” the injury does not involve the UCL — which could lead to Tommy John surgery — but the team would know more later Tuesday.

Britton told The Post on Saturday about his COVID illness, which occurred in January and caused him to lose a lot of weight.

The illness “set him back a little bit in his build-up [to spring training],” Boone said. “He was just trying to get his weight up. He’s been throwing pretty well early in spring, but after the bullpen the other day, which was successful and he didn’t feel anything, it was after the fact [the soreness began].”
