One wonders what might have happened had Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Molina of Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, had one or two more sons, or five more. The three they did have, Bengie, Yadier and the Yankees’ Jose, all became big leaguer catchers, and all, since 2002, have played for a World Series winner.

Mr. Molina, an assembly-line factory worker, died of a heart attack last past Oct. 11. He was 58. When he collapsed, he was working on the youth league baseball field he helped build. After his kids made it, Mr. Molina never stopped helping others’ kids.

YES Network’s Yankee pregame, today at 4:30, includes a salute to the late Benjamin Molina.
