Yet another song contest
The Mets for some reason are holding another contest to decide their eighth-inning sing along song, even though current choice “Meet the Mets” is popular with fans and the team had a similar contest less than a year ago. Last year’s contest resulted in the selection of “Sweet Caroline,” but the Mets quickly abandoned that because fans accused them of copying its longtime use by the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Here are the new candidates, which the Mets said were compiled with the help of apparently noted music experts Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton from WFAN:
“The Curly Shuffle”
“Hooked on a Feeling”
“I Like it Like That”
“Mama Said Knock You Out”
“Meet the Mets”
“This Land is Your Land”
“Twist & Shout”
Voting has already begun at the Mets’ Web site.
