Add another Yankee to the walking wounded.
Zack Britton left Saturday’s game in the middle of an at-bat in the eighth inning with “right calf cramping,” the team announced. No tests were scheduled.
The lefty reliever appeared to signal to the dugout after throwing a ball to Marcus Semien. After a brief conversation with trainer Steve Donohue and manager Aaron Boone, Britton exited the game. He had retired the first two batters he faced in the inning before falling behind Semien 3-1. Chad Green replaced him.
The Yankees have already put an MLB-record 29 different players on the injured list this season, with 16 currently still on it. CC Sabathia was put on the 10-day injured list prior to Saturday’s game.
