Former Jets player Kerry Rhodes wants to set the record straight.

Rhodes, who played safety last year for the Cardinals, appeared in photos on MediaTakeOut.com with his arm around a male friend. The site implied that Rhodes could be gay, which is a strong implication with reports coming out recently that four NFL players will soon come out of the closet together.

Rhodes, though, told TMZ: “I’m not gay.”

“Photos have been circulating of my former assistant and I that have caused some rumors regarding my sexuality and I wanted to address the situation,” Rhodes said to the site. … “The shots were taken during a past vacation in a casual environment with my entire business team.”

Rhodes, 30, was drafted by the Jets in 2005 and played with the team until 2009. He was with the Cardinals the last three seasons and is now a free agent.

Though he says he is not gay, Rhodes does support the plight of closeted professional athletes.

“I know a lot of people are recently talking about athletes struggling to come out to their fans right now, and I support them, as well as wish those individuals comfort,” he said.
