Ouch.
Suns forward Jae Crowder took a kick to the groin by Lakers big man Anthony Davis on Tuesday night.
In the first minute of Game 2 of the Lakers’ 109-102 win over the Suns, Davis went up for a jump shot and followed through with a right kick to Crowder’s crotch area. The Suns star immediately collapsed on the court and fell to his knees in pain.
Crowder initially made contact with Davis’ shooting motion and received a personal foul. Davis was given two free throws.
Upon reviewing the play, officials hit Davis with a flagrant 1 foul for his karate kick to Crowder’s mid-section. In return, Crowder was given two free throws, which he sunk, and the Suns got the ball.
For context, Davis wore a size 17 shoe in 2010, and told ESPN at the time he was still growing.
The 28-year-old finished the night with 34 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists — a much-improved stat line from his 13-point performance in Game 1.
Davis and LeBron James took over in Game 2 to secure the win and tie the series 1-1. James closed out the night with 23 points, nine assists, four rebounds and two steals. Crowder ended up scoring eight points and grabbing six rebounds in 29 minutes.
Game 3 is set for Thursday at 10 p.m. in Los Angeles.
