The Knicks deserved a standing ovation following their loss to the Suns. A team that was not expected to sniff the playoffs went on a nine-game winning streak and took the team with the second-best record in the NBA to the brink. They played their hearts out and a future Hall of Famer finished them, making a few impossible shots. You tip your cap to Chris Paul and you tip your cap to the Knicks, who still hold the fourth seed in the East after finally losing a game.

To dive into what was a dazzling win streak, the loss to the Suns, CP3’s future and the road ahead for the Knicks, we bring you a new episode of the “Big Apple Buckets” podcast with Sal Licata and Jerome “The Junk Yard Dog” Williams, featuring an interview with one of the greatest 50 players in NBA history, George “The Iceman” Gervin.

Big Apple Buckets Podcast with Sal, JYD & Jake:

  • CP3 ENDS KNICKS’ WIN STREAK: Knicks did all they could Monday. Paul made some unbelievable shots to close the game. Should the Knicks try to give CP3 a multi-year deal this summer? Can it realistically happen? Knicks solidified themselves winning nine in a row as a true playoff team.
  • ROAD AHEAD/PLAYOFF PUSH: Knicks have to beat the Bulls at home and beat the lowly Rockets on Sunday. They have a good shot to get the fourth seed and home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Derrick Rose deserves a ton of praise. MSG has been rocking and the fans have made their presence felt. Big Apple Buckets crew needs to find its way into the Garden for a playoff game.

George “The Iceman” Gervin Interview: NBA legend, Basketball Hall of Famer

  • LEGENDARY CAREER: No 3-point shot when he played. His finger roll was iconic. Game was more physical when he played. Discusses defending Clyde Frazier in the 70s. Happy 69th Birthday, George!
  • JULIUS RANDLE: Proud of him and the confidence he has now. Randle has put the city on his back and has developed into an incredible player.
  • PLAYING WITH JORDAN: He tells a fantastic story about the final year of his career playing alongside a young Michael Jordan with the Bulls. Doesn’t think you can compare eras when debating Jordan vs. LeBron. Jordan and Julius Erving were best players he went up against.
  • SUPER TEAMS: Talks about trying to take down the almighty Lakers led by Kareem and Magic. Was offered to go there, but wanted to beat them, not join them. Doesn’t have an issue with stars aligning forces, it is their right, but he wanted to beat the best.
