Carmelo Anthony’s tenure in Portland continues to be all rise.
The freshly minted Trail Blazers star was named the Western Conference Player of the Week in the sixth week of the NBA season, averaging 22.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
The weekly award is the 19th in his career and the first for Melo since 2014, his fourth season with the Knicks.
Despite going almost a year between teams — he played 10 games with the Houston Rockets in 2018-19 before eventually being traded to and immediately waived by the Chicago Bulls — Anthony has looked every bit the superstar since signing in Portland. He received a standing ovation in his debut at the Moda Center and his “Rip City” jersey sold out at the arena store.
He’s currently on a one-year, non-guaranteed deal that looks to be paying off for both sides.
