Chandler Parsons’ NBA career may be over.

A law firm representing the Hawks forward raised the realistic possibility he’s done playing after suffering severe injuries in a car accident involving an alleged drunk driver last week. Last Wednesday, he was put in the league’s concussion protocol following the accident, but the injuries he suffered appear even more serious.

Morgan & Morgan, which is representing Parsons, said in a statement the 31-year-old “suffered multiple severe and permanent injuries including a traumatic brain injury, disc herniation and a torn labrum.”

The firm said the driver, who is not identified in the statement, caused the crash. The firm also said the driver was arrested and charged with DUI.

“Chandler was seriously injured in this crash, which never should have occurred,” Morgan & Morgan said. “The at-fault driver created utter chaos on the roadway, needlessly endangering the lives of countless motorists; he now stands charged with DUI, admitted drinking, had alcohol in the car with him, passed out after causing a three-car crash at 2:00PM on a Wednesday in a busy intersection, seriously injuring and potentially ending Mr. Parsons’ career as a professional athlete.”

The 31-year-old Parsons, a second-round pick of the Rockets in 2011 out of Florida, has fought knee injuries the last several years, since signing a four-year $94.8 million contract with the Grizzlies in July of 2016. He has played in just 100 games since. He may not play ever again now.
