Chet Holmgren — who was selected out of Gonzaga with the No. 2 pick by the Thunder — rocked a chain containing a pair of dice that added up to No. 7, the number he wore with Team USA when he led them to gold in the U-19 FIBA World Cup in 2021.
It caught the attention of one Carmelo Anthony fan.
“He actin up,” the supporter of Anthony tweeted on a video of Holmgren explaining the meaning behind his necklace. “I know that ain’t a 7 on his neck.”
The Gonzaga product — who was selected No. 2 overall by the Thunder — explained the significance of his chain, which included a pair of dice that added up to the No. 7, while on the red carpet.
“It’s a pair of dice with 3-4 on it, 34 is my number,” Holmgren said about his number he wore with the Bulldogs. “I wore [No.] 7 with [Team] USA when we won gold and 3, 4 adds to 7 — and I’m big on betting on myself.”
