Timeout on the floor for … glitter?
That appeared to be the case in the third quarter of the Knicks’ loss to the Cavaliers on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden.
After a timeout with 5:04 left in the third quarter, the Knicks City Dancers performed at center court and then appeared to leave what appeared to be glitter on the floor, prompting help from celebrities like Chris Rock and David Harbour.
“Always a lot of glitter at the World’s Most Famous Arena,” Walt “Clyde” Frazier quipped on the MSG Network broadcast. “They might be here awhile, Mike [Breen], the glitter is everywhere.”
“Well, you don’t see this delay very often,” Breen, the play-by-play man chipped in.
Along with the crew on the floor that used a combination of towels, Knicks players Immanuel Quickley and Quentin Grimes were both seen using their hands to get the residue off the playing surface.

Chris Rock was among those who helped the Knicks out. Charles Wenzelberg / New York PostFrazier added that the glitter could actually pose a danger to the players on the court and cause them to slip or slide while running up and down the floor.
That’s when the comedian Rock and “Stranger Things” star Harbour, both sitting courtside near the action, got out of their seats to get the game back on track.
“The fans on celebrity row are picking them up,” Breen said in amazement. “They have brooms, they have mops, they have celebrities, they have players — not a single broadcaster is helping out.”
Eventually, all the glitter was picked up, but it did not help the Knicks, who lost 95-89 to the Cavaliers.
