As with any good collapse, the Clippers offered a side of drama to go with their playoff choke.

Paul George and Montrezl Harrell got into a heated exchange over George’s refusal to take responsibility for a turnover during Game 2 of their series against the Nuggets, Yahoo Sports reported Wednesday. The incident came during a timeout in the second quarter, according to the report, after George had coughed up a pair of turnovers on bad passes in less than a minute.

On the second, George tried a half-court pass to Harrell, who was being guarded by Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. Murray stole the pass, which led to the confrontation 22 seconds later during a Clippers timeout.

Harrell brought up the pass with George, who argued the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year could have caught it if he had made the right play, according to the report.

“Harrell responded with something along the lines of, ‘You’re always right. Nobody can tell you nothing,’ and expletives were uttered from both players, sources said,” Yahoo’s Chris Haynes wrote.

Their teammates eventually had to clap on the sideline to distract from their argument, the report said.

The Clippers went on to lose that game, 110-101, but still took a 3-1 lead in the series before the Nuggets mounted their comeback and won in seven games to advance to the Western Conference Finals.

After the collapse was complete, multiple Clippers made reference to the team lacking a cohesiveness.

“We need to build some chemistry,” Kawhi Leonard told reporters. “When you’ve played together for a while, they know the exact places where everybody is, and it makes it easier.”

“A lot of the issues we ran into, talent bailed us out,” Lou Williams added. “Chemistry didn’t.”
