Itâs not even a big story anymore when Eddy Curry goes scoreless, is benched for for all but 3:47 of the final three quarters and the Knicks win big.
Itâs just another ho-hum chapter in the phasing out of Curry, who had two more blocks than points, if thatâs to be believed.
Jamal Crawford and Nate Robinson orchestrated the rout over the Bobcats with a combined 42 points and David Lee came off the bench in place of Curry to rip down 14 rebounds and ignite fastbreaks with his outlet passes. The Knicks committed just 11 turnovers.
There was only a couple of reporters around Curry after the game. Weâve grown tired of the story, too. Heâs averaging 19 minutes in his last 13 games.
âI donât want to say anything controversial and get myself in trouble,ââ Curry told Scott Mandel of NewYorkSportsReporters.com. Curry must have gotten some heat for questioning Isiah Sunday night in Toronto.
The bigger story came before the game when Thomas said the team will need another point guard for next season and omitted Stephon Marburyâs name when discussing the 2008-2009 backcourt. Given two chances to say he slipped up and meant to include Marbury, Thomas wouldnât take the bait. That was cold.
Isiah couldnât have been more clear he has no plans for Marbury next season. Of course, owner James Dolan may not have plans for Thomas.
Meanwhile, the bizarro report suggesting Kiki Vandeweghe and Garden prez Steve Mills attended the âBlack Magicââ screening together and sat next to each other proved fictional.
Vandeweghe told the Postâs Fred Kerber they talked outside the Apollo after randomly bumping into each other. Mills actually sat with Herb Williams, former Harlem Ren, John Isaacs, an NBA employee and the Klores family. I know the Knicks management hasnât acted too bright for a long time, but do you think Mills is going to court Vandeweghe before 1,300 basketball people?
