Timberwolves assistant coach Rick Brunson, a former Knicks point guard and father of Villanova star and NBA prospect Jalen Brunson, abruptly resigned Tuesday over allegations of inappropriate conduct in the workplace.

Brunson was facing accusations of interacting improperly with women while on the job, The Athletic reported, including a female media member, according to an ESPN source. Minnesota did not include a reason for Brunson’s departure when announcing his resignation in a one-sentence statement.

Brunson was arrested in Chicago in 2014, while in between coaching jobs, on charges of sexually assaulting a female massage therapist. He was acquitted of all counts the following year after testifying that the incident was part of a consensual extramarital relationship.

Brunson, 45, was in his second season with the Timberwolves after bouncing around the NBA and college ranks as an assistant since 2007. His stops included the Nuggets, the University of Hartford, the Bulls and the Bobcats.

Brunson’s nine-year playing career was even more nomadic, with the Temple product making his NBA debut with the Trail Blazers in 1997 and playing his last season with the Rockets in 2006. He played two seasons with the Knicks (1999-2001) and was part of the 1999 Eastern Conference championship team that wound up losing to the Spurs in the finals.
