An ugly start for the Dallas Mavericks at least provided some laughs.

About halfway through the first quarter of Tuesday night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, Mavs forward Dorian Finney-Smith grabbed a tough rebound and attempted to toss a pass to Spencer Dinwiddie.

However, the forward struggled to get the pass by Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado and  hit an entirely different target with Dallas trailing 24-11.

Finney-Smith tossed a pass toward the sideline — and Alvarado may have gotten a piece of it — and the ball accidentally hit a standing female fan directly in the back of the head.

All things considered, the fan in question took it like a champ and was able to laugh it off almost instantaneously as she checked her head with her hand.

As the play-by-play man Ian Eagle said, “she didn’t see that one coming.”
