In a day already filled with news and rumors surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo, a tangible scare was added to the mix.

The Bucks star left Wednesday night’s 113-109 win over the Pistons in the first quarter with a right calf strain. Milwaukee said he will not be returning to the contest.

Antetokounmpo made a nifty assist to AJ Green before falling to the floor holding his right leg as he started to work his way back up the court.

He sat on the floor for a few seconds before limping off the court under his own power.

Antetokounmpo finished with two points, one rebound and one assist in three minutes.

Head coach Doc Rivers told reporters after the game that he believes the team has ruled out any Achilles injury and that Antetokounmpo is undergoing an MRI on Wednesday night.

The coach said Antetokounmpo made contact with a Pistons defender on the pass before the injury, which Rivers said he thought might have led to the injury.

“I thought the bump was what made him lose his balance,” Rivers told reporters.

Earlier in the day, rumors swirled as ESPN reported that the two-time MVP and his agent were “discussing whether his best fit is staying or a move elsewhere” and that a “resolution” is expected to happen in the next few weeks.

As that report fueled rumors that Antetokounmpo could get traded — with the Knicks as a possible destination — Rivers shot down any notion that there have been discussions about the superstar getting dealt.

“There have been no conversations,” Rivers told reporters. “I want to make it clear for, I would say one more time, but for the 50th time it clearly is not getting to one network, for sure. Giannis has never asked to be traded. Ever. I can’t make that more clear.”
