Giannis Antetokounmpo will miss Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Atlanta Hawks Thursday night due the hyperextended left knee he suffered in Game 4, the Milwaukee Bucks announuced.

Antetokounmpo escaped a major injury when tests revealed no structural damage in his knee, confirming that all ligaments are still intact. Still, the Bucks star won’t be able to play with the series tied 2-2. 

The two-time MVP left Tuesday’s Game 4 loss in the third quarter after landing awkwardly on his left leg attempting to contest an alley-oop attempt. Antetokounmpo remained down on the court for several moments before being assisted into the locker room. 

Milwaukee, which trailed by 10 points at the time of the injury, went on to lose Game 4, 110-88. 

Earlier on Thursday, Antetokounmpo took to social media to implore Milwaukee fans to ‘be loud’ despite his absence.

Antetokounmpo has been at his best during these playoffs, averaging 28.2 points, 12.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game.
