Though Isiah Thomas runs an exotic flavored popcorn company, it was another cotton candy session with the Knicks coach/prez at this morningâs shootaround.
Zeke waxed elowquently about âwinning over the doubtersââ, bringing fans back to the Garden, and fathers and sons and mothers and daughters. I think I need a dentist.
The Knicks have posted two of the worst attendance totals in 14 years this season â against Washington Nov. 15th and Memphis Monday, both in the 15,000 range. Tonight vs. Washington could be as bad. Isiah realizes after last season’s disgrace on and off the court, the Knicks have to earn the fans back.
The Post reported exclusively in preseason season-ticket sales had gone down 15 percent from last season.
âUltimately what people want is hope,ââ Thomas said. âWhen they come to the games, they’ve enjoyed the experience. Even though we lost games at home, we’ve had good games. Theyâve been good games to watch. People leave the arena with that sick feeling sometimes but our job is to make that magic moment for that father and son, that mother and daughter, a place they can come and bond. And say, âI was at the Knicksâ game.
Thomas went on to talk about how the kids who watched his Bad Boys win their two championships had grown up to be fathers and watched with their sons as the Bad Boys II of Ben, Rasheed and Chauncey won a title three years ago.
âWith sports, as the kids get older, it’s really the only place you can connect with your daughter or son,ââ Thomas said.

As far as Thomasâ pronouncement that David Lee is headed back to the bench when the team is at full strength, I think itâs a mistake. Lee has earned fullblown minutes and is a better complement to Eddy Curry because of his rebounding and activeness. Right now Channing Frye has to earn his minutes backâ¦Sorry the blog went away a few days. There were technical difficulties on my part. Judging by the comments killing me, I probably wasnât missed…Can the Cavaliers learn to read. There was an on-air report stating the Cavs denying a New York Post report they were trying to trade for Frye. Never written here. I stated the Cavs were taking a long look at Frye before he got injured. Never once stated they had approached the Knicks about any deal.
