Things apparently escalated behind the scenes after an in-game scuffle between Nuggets center Nikola Jokic and Heat power forward Markieff Morris on Monday.

After Denver’s 113-96 win, some Heat players showed up to the Nuggets’ locker room to seemingly address the situation.

A viral photo shows Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and other Miami players gathered in the hallway at Ball Arena, where a security guard was blocking the entry to Denver’s locker room.

Both Jokic and Morris were ejected late in the fourth quarter after Jokic blindsided Morris with a hit from behind in retaliation to a hard foul. Butler, who had to be held back, received a technical foul for yelling at Denver’s bench.

It’s unclear if things escalated further between the two teams after the game.

The Heat have not addressed the photo — courtesy of Aaron Ontiveroz, a Denver-based photographer, who shared additional photos of the scuffle to Instagram.

After the incident, Morris’ brother, Marcus Morris, tweeted, “Waited till bro turned his back smh. NOTED.”

Jokic’s brothers, Strahinja and Nemanja, responded to Morris from their joint Twitter account, writing, “You should leave this the way it is instead of publicly threatening our brother! Your brother made a dirty play first. If you want to make a step further be sure we will be waiting for you!!”

In June, the duo came to Jokic’s defense during an on-court scuffle with the Suns.

Jokic addressed the hit on Morris after the game, calling it a “stupid play” and a “bad move” on his part. He explained that he “needed to protect myself.”

The reigning MVP could be facing a suspension from the NBA, pending review of the play. Morris, meanwhile, received attention from the medical staff, but was able to exit the floor on his own.
