Pat Riley is not planning on loosening his grip on the Miami Heat anytime soon, and cited his physical fitness as a reason he is still capable to do the job.
Riley spoke to reporters Monday, and the question of whether he will remain in charge of the Heat came up. He said he is not going anywhere.
“I’m 77 years old and right now I can do more push-ups than you can right now,” Riley said, according to Tim Reynolds of the AP.
The world is dying to know how many pushups Riley is actually able to complete in one set. With the slow summer months approaching, perhaps a sportsbook could set a line and see if Riley could be coaxed into performing his feats of strength on camera.
Whether or not an ability to out-push-up sports media members has any correlation with front office acumen, Riley’s Heat achieved strong results this past season.

“I definitely feel an obligation to finish this build,” Riley told reporters. “And so if we’re three years into this build — then I don’t want to do another three years of just building this team. I think we’re in that window of internal improvement.”
