Immanuel Quickley’s breakout rookie season with the Knicks wasn’t enough to land him on the roster for the NBA’s Rising Stars Challenge.

The league this year has eliminated the annual game, traditionally held on All-Star weekend and involving the NBA’s top rookies and sophomores, due to COVID-19 restrictions. The United States and World rosters still were named Wednesday to honor those players selected.

Second-year Knicks guard RJ Barrett, who is from Canada, was chosen as a member of the World team.

Quickley, the 25th-overall pick in the 2020 draft out of Kentucky, is averaging 12.6 points and 2.4 assists in 32 appearances for the Knicks this season.

Rookies Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves, LaMelo Ball of the Hornets and Tyrese Haliburton of the Kings, along with second-year players Ja Morant of the Grizzlies and Tyler Herro of the Heat were the guards selected ahead of Quickley on the U.S. squad.
