ORLANDO, Fla. — In the biggest far-fetched wild card of Phil Jackson’s search for a starting shooting guard, Dwyane Wade’s reps reportedly spoke to the Knicks and Bucks.

However, the Knicks, after center Joakim Noah agreed to an $18 million-per-year contract, won’t have the cap space to meet Wade’s demands. Wade’s reps appear to be using clubs as a negotiating ploy to break an unexpected impasse with the Heat.

The Vertical reported the Knicks aren’t actually in the picture. Wade is seeking a contract of $20 million per year, and the Knicks, depending on their cap holds for their own choice free agents, can have approximately $15 million of space.

The Bulls, Nuggets, Mavericks and Bucks are considered the teams in the picture as Wade reportedly was insulted by the Heat’s initial $10 million-a-year offer.

Wade’s re-signing with the Heat was deemed a foregone conclusion until an ESPN report stated earlier this week his talks with Miami stalled. The report stated Wade still could meet with the Knicks, but that’s a fantasy.

Wade is longtime friends with Carmelo Anthony, and his Bucks’ ties are obvious — a Chicago native who played at Marquette. Wade’s celebrity wife, Gabrielle Union, is also close friends with Anthony’s wife, La La.

At 34 years old, Wade is a 30-minutes-per-game player now because of old knees. The Knicks not only need a starting shooting guard but a backup point guard.

The Knicks hope to re-sign defensive forward Lance Thomas by giving him a deal worth more than $6 million, but he’s receiving strong interest from Tom Thibodeau’s Timberwolves, among others. The Pistons are also said to be interested — no surprise because Stan Van Gundy raved about him during the season. The Thunder, Thomas’ former team, have inquired, as have the Nets. Thomas was raised in Brooklyn.
