A Knicks P.R. official escorted Isiah Thomas slowly down the hallway late tonight, past the visiting locker room and to his (last) ride out of the Garden. It was the same P.R. official who infamously escorted Don Chaney out of the Garden back in the day.

Donnie Walsh, according to ESPN News, has agreed to join the Knicks after the season. It would seem highly doubftul Thomas could remain as head coach. Will James Dolan make Walsh do his dirty work?

This morning, as Thomas cancelled practice, Pacers spokesman, David Benner, denied an agreement is in place with the Knicks. Walsh declined comment at Indiana’s morning shootaround. But it seems a matter of time.

Ironically, on the day Walsh stepped down from the Pacers, Thomas registered his 100th loss as Knicks coach with the Nets’ blowout defeat, second-fastest Knicks’ coach to hit 100 in their history, behind Eddie Donovan. The coaching record is 52-100 after the Knicks’ seventh straight home loss – longest home losing streak since 1963-64. Does Thomas deserve a more graceful ending here? Not sure he cares, as long as he gets his money.

Oh, the Daily News was confirming the ESPN report through a Pacers’ official. Wonder if that’s the same Pacers’ official who confirmed for the Daily News the past few days Walsh was staying in Indy.
