Bryan Colangelo’s fate soon will be decided.

In the wake of an expansive report from The Ringer detailing what seemed to be Colangelo’s anonymous Twitter accounts revealing team secrets and ripping star players, the 76ers’ ownership met in New York on Tuesday to decide whether to fire Colangelo, according to ESPN. A decision reportedly could come as soon as Wednesday.

Colangelo has denied knowledge of the Twitter accounts, which, since the initial reports, have been linked to his wife, Barbara. Both were reportedly interviewed by Paul/Weiss, the law firm retained by the Sixers to investigate the matter, for several hours Sunday and Monday. If it turns out to be his wife who posted from the accounts, Colangelo could go down anyway.

And even if he manages to keep his job, Colangelo’s credibility seems to have been lost. Between this incident, the seemingly botched trade to move up to select Markelle Fultz No. 1 overall in last year’s draft, and being hired by his father, Jerry (who has since stepped down), there are no shortage of reasons for Sixers brass to have lost faith in Colangelo.

Heading into a summer in which LeBron James and Paul George stand atop their free-agent shopping list, the Sixers will make coach Brett Brown the face of their free-agency presentations regardless of what happens to Colangelo, per ESPN’s report. Recently hired assistant Monty Williams also will play a large role.

For now though, it’s wait and see.
