In case writing about the 12-26 76ers wasn’t enough of a punch to the face.
A message that was sent from Jahlil Okafor’s father’s Twitter account hypothetically wondered about “slapping the s–t” out of a writer from Liberty Ballers, a 76ers blog, on Saturday night.
The bizarre proposal to Shamus Clancy came after the writer took a shot at Okafor, the promising big man out of Duke, who was set to start for the first time in five games in Washington.
Screengrab courtesy @RTNBAClancy offered some nondescript Twitter snark — “Imagine taking a bus for two hours only to see Jahlil Okafor start” — which Chukwudi Okafor took notice of.
“imagine me slapping the s–t out of you,” said a reply from Chukwudi’s account.
As the message was quickly being saved for posterity by hungrily screen-grabbing users, Okafor’s father deleted the casual threat. He then reportedly announced his account had been hacked — only to then delete that message, apparently thinking better of his defense. Chukwudi hasn’t offered an explanation or apology since.
In the game — a 109-93 Wizards win — Okafor starred, pouring in 26 points and grabbing nine rebounds in 35 minutes.
