James Harden is opting into his $35.6 million deal with the 76ers for next season — in order to get out of Philadelphia. 

The 10-time NBA All-Star and the 76ers are beginning to work with one another to facilitate a trade, according to multiple reports.

It’s unknown where Harden wants to go next, but ESPN reported that the Knicks and Clippers could engage in trade talks for the superstar guard.

Wherever he lands, it would be the fourth different team Harden will play for in the last four years. 

Harden first got the Houston Rockets to deal him to Brooklyn, only for Harden to force Nets general manager Sean Marks’ hand to trade him to the 76ers.

Now, after 79 games over two seasons in Philadelphia, it appears that Harden will be headed elsewhere again. 

Harden had put up strong numbers during the regular season, including leading the league in assists. 

But his play was inconsistent during the playoffs, especially in the 76ers’ second-round loss to the Boston Celtics. 

It was an up-and-down series for Harden, who scored as many as 45 points in the series opener and as few as nine in the decisive Game 7 loss.

As far as the two potential landing spots go, the Clippers already boast a team that features Kawhi Leonard and Russell Westbrook. 

New York would certainly provide an interesting opportunity for Harden, though the Knicks already have Jalen Brunson on their roster.
