JoJo Hayes went viral in December for a halfcourt shot made during halftime of University of Illinois basketball game. He has only gotten more determined since.
Hayes lost both legs in 2007 when he was a 1-year-old due to meningitis, but he still gravitated toward basketball and would play competitively with friends.
Now, the young teenager is setting his sights on wheelchair basketball and one day making the Paralympics.
“My goal is to play wheelchair basketball,” Hayes, who is in seventh grade, said as part of The Post’s Extraordinary People series. “Whatever you put your mind to you can do it. And if you put your mind to that thing then practice more.”
