OG Anunoby is being called to Queens despite his unfinished business in Manhattan.
After the Knicks forward’s heroics in which he tipped in the game-winning basket with 1.2 second left in the 107-106 Game 4 win over the Spurs at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, he caught the attention of José Reyes.
So much so, the former Mets All-Star penned Anunoby a message.
“Hey @OG_Anunoby, Happy for your success. Proud that you’re a Mets fan. The Mets and I would love to invite you to Citi Field to throw out a ceremonial first pitch. All the best, Jose Reyes,” he wrote on x.

Anunoby’s efforts on Wednesday that saw the Knicks overcome a 29-point deficit in a history NBA Finals rally — with his game-sealing block and follow-up tip-in now contenders for the most defining New York sports moments in history.
His finishg of Jalen Brunson’s deep 3-point shot took him from a key role player to Knicks legend status.
Reyes, who played for the Mets for 12 seasons and is frequent visitor at the Garden, wants any kind of championship-like energy in Queens as soon as possible.

It has been bleak for the Mets in a season that started with new hope and high expectations, ones have not been met by the players brought in during an offseason overhaul.

The Knicks have a chance to close on Saturday in Game 5 and win their first title since 1973. If they fall short, they will fly back to New York to try to finish the job at the Garden.
Reyes may have to wait on his wish until Anunoby’s Knicks priorities are taken care of.
