Karl-Anthony Towns wants Anthony Edwards to lay off the Popeyes.

Speaking to reporters after the Timberwolves lost, 115-106, to the Spurs on Monday night, Towns was asked what he could do to help Edwards have more bounce on the second night of back-to-backs; Minnesota defeated the Thunder on Sunday.

“Maybe I could do a better job of teaching him how to take care of his body — diet and everything,” Towns said. “That’ll be on me. I know y’all think it’s funny up here when he talks about Popeyes and all that s–t. That doesn’t make me happy to hear. We’re high-level athletes.”

Last February, Edwards showed off his Popeyes takeout at the podium after a game. He was asked about where the chain’s fries rank. A true fast food connoisseur, Edwards thought about it and answered that Popeyes fries were in the “top four.”

Edwards became a pitchman for Popeyes, doing a commercial for Uber Eats in which he and Ja Morant held a “slam dunk contest” about how they dunk their chicken pieces in dips.

In a Q&A adjacent to the spot, Edwards was asked if he double dips.

“Definitely, all the time. I love the sauce,” he said.

Does he ever mix two dips — together?

“Sometimes, I might mix BBQ and buffalo sauce. Great taste. You should try it,” he said.

When asked which sauce he would be OK never eating again, Edwards was happy to toss aside ranch and blue cheese.

Edwards is in his third season in the NBA. He was selected first overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. Last season, he averaged 21.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
