I saw one renowned writer today knock down my story of the Dwyane Wade and LeBron James conspiring to become 2010 Knicks on grounds Donnie Walsh wouldn’t go for it.

Huh?

Of all the reasons to pooh-pooh it, that would not make the list. The report suggests Donnie is looking for a big man to go along with LeBron when he goes for two maximum free agents – with Chris Bosh of the mighty Toronto Raptors the better fit with LeBron. In Mike D’Antoni’s offense?

I think Mitch, who was with me in Indianapolis, was effected by the two-degree weather Friday night after the Heat-Pacers game.

In 2010, Wade and James will be the two best players in basketball, if they are not right now. Donnie would run naked on the Brooklyn Bridge if LeBron and Dwyane agreed to come to NYC as a tandem. The Knicks president would be given a key to the city. I think it’s remote because Wade is going to want LeBron to come to Miami.

“It’s not crazy,” Wade told me Friday night in Indiana when asked about Wade and LeBron conspiring together to join the Knicks. “It could happen. We both understand that. We both signed the same contract. We did it together. More than anything, it’s fun (to think about). It’s exciting to know we both control our future. Will it happen? Who knows. He has some something he’s trying to accomplish in Cleveland. I have something I’m trying to accomplish in Miami. But up until 2010, it will be fun to think about.”

While Stephon Marbury claims the Heat are interested, the same writer claiims Miami isn’t.

But Wade is. Miami has used rookie Mario Chalmers as starting PG. “We need a veteran guy like himself to come in and help guys like Mario Chalmers, make them better,” Wade told me. “(Marbury’s) a guy who can create for others. On this team, we don’t have a lot of guys who can create for others. It would be interesting for (Pat) Riley.”

The Boss rules. I feel badly for next year’s entertainer having to top that halftime show.
