On their Christmas morning, the Knicks unwrapped a healthy Kevin Knox. They won’t be able to use him right away, however.

The forward was cleared from the health and safety protocols Saturday, the team announced, though he and recently activated Immanuel Quickley will sit against the Hawks at the Garden this afternoon. Both need conditioning work.

Shortly after announcing the Knox news, the Knicks said center Jericho Sims has entered COVID protocols.

Knox will miss a fifth game since entering the COVID-19 reserve list Dec. 16, before which he had taken a bigger role with the team so decimated.

Knox, who was out of the rotation at the start of the season, played his most minutes this season in games on Dec. 12 and 14, scoring 18 points in the former in a loss to the Bucks.

While Knox and Quickley will not play, the Knicks will warm up RJ Barrett and Quentin Grimes, both cleared from the protocols the past two days, and see if they’re ready.

Still in the protocols as of Saturday morning were Nerlens Noel and Miles McBride, with Sims now joining them, but the Hawks had far bigger problems.

While Clint Capela was cleared from the protocols and could play Saturday, his teammates Trae Young, Danilo Gallinari, Lou Williams, Kevin Huerter and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot are stuck on the reserve list.
