Mike Brown: "There's nothing that will deter the group."

By Jake Nisse

The Knicks have bounced back from a couple of heart-wrenching losses this series, and are now one win away from the second round after their best performance of these playoffs.

Mike Brown is certainly proud of his team.

"You've got to go through some adversity throughout the course of the year to see what you're made of as a group... our guys have been through a lot, there's nothing that will deter the group" pic.twitter.com/2qBvXcLyIU

Knicks’ Game 5 report card: Mike Brown pushed all the right buttons

By Stefan Bondy

Jalen Brunson

His best performance of the series, by far, as he buried the Hawks with a footwork clinic in the fourth quarter, finishing with 39 points and eight assists and just one turnover. It was a reminder that the best offensive player in this series is No. 11 on the Knicks.

The quote of the night from Alvarado

By Jake Nisse

He's not wrong. Brunson danced through the Hawks defense on Tuesday, en route to 39 points, eight assists and a +23 plus-minus for the game.

Between him and Alvarado, New York's backcourt was huge against Atlanta.

"He got twinkle toes over there"😂

Jose Alvarado called Jalen Brunson's footwork in the fourth quarter "amazing" pic.twitter.com/Do9zvEuppg

A worry ahead of Game 6....

By Jake Nisse

Mike Brown did not comment on Hart's status after the game. Hart is known as a warrior, but the Knicks have a quick turnaround to their next game on Thursday night.

Josh Hart, who appeared to be bothered by a back injury, has not reutrned to the bench. But this one is over. Knicks going to Atlanta with opportunity to end the series.

A sobering assessment from Snyder

By Jake Nisse

Some numbers tonight for the Hawks: 31 percent from three, 45 percent from three, and just 59 percent from the line.

That's never a recipe for winning a playoff game, and the Knicks deserve credit for putting them in a funk tonight.

"They did what they were supposed to do, protected home court. Their defense never really let us establish consistently how we need to play to beat them."

A comfortable night for New York

By Jake Nisse

This was easily the Knicks' most comfortable win of the series - as backed up in the numbers and the feel of this night, which never felt in reach for Atlanta.

McCollum had just six points on 10 shots as he faded into the background for the first time this series.

Knicks wins in this series:

Game 1 by 11 points
Game 4 by 16 points
Game 5 by 29 points

Hawks wins in this series:

Game 2 by 1 point
Game 3 by 1 point

FINAL: Knicks trounce Hawks 126-97

By Jake Nisse

A comfortable win from start to finish from New York, who needed no late-game heroics after impressive showings from Brunson, Towns and Anunoby.

Alvarado (12 points) also made the most of his minutes off the bench, and has really taken his chance to be the backup point guard in New York's rotation.

New York defended well, but Atlanta shot poorly too, and made just 13-of-42 three-pointers.

They'll have a chance to get right in Game 6, but will need much more from McCollum and Co.

Leading by example

By Jake Nisse

Brunson adds three more points, and Coach Brown smartly yanks him off the floor for the night as the MSG crowd applauds.

39 points for Captain Brunson tonight in a controlled, patient showing and the Knicks are one win away from the second round.

Five minutes remain and the Knicks are in control

By Jake Nisse

The Knicks lead a healthy 110-87 with five minutes remaining and this one is all but over.

At this point, Atlanta should and will be focused on getting to Game 6 healthy and keeping the series alive from there.

Not bad company to be in

By Jake Nisse

Brunson's playoff heroics have become commonplace for Knicks fans, but it's worth reminding just how consistent he's been in the spring.

Fun Fact: Jalen Brunson is now tied with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in career 30-point playoff games (25). pic.twitter.com/mSWDsA5f3U

Jalen is feeling it!

By Jake Nisse

Brunson is now at 33 points, and brought The Garden onto its feet the last couple of possessions with some impressive footwork towards the basket, and then a three-pointer from the right elbow.

He's clicking on all cylinders and the Hawks have no answer for him right now, as they trail by 24.
