The Knicks open the NBA playoffs at home against the Hawks for Game 1 on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET.

Atlanta enters the playoffs as one of the NBA’s hottest teams with the third-best winning percentage (.769) since the All-Star break and is led by star forward Jalen Johnson.

Even without Trae Young, Atlanta has proven itself a worthy foe, putting Jalen Brunson and the Knicks on upset alert.

Will the Knicks get off to a good series start? Or will the streaking Hawks be too much to handle?

Mike Brown on Hack-a-Mitch: 'We'll see how the game goes'

By Ethan Sears

Mike Brown doesn't sound like he's going to overreact to the Hawks intentionally fouling Mitchell Robinson. Atlanta sent Robinson to the line intentionally twice on Saturday, and he went 1-for-4 before Brown pulled him.

"We'll see how the game goes," Brown told reporters after the Knicks' Game 1 win. "We'll leave him in until we feel like we need to make a sub. We're going to give him a chance."

Knicks win Game 1 113-102 over Hawks

The Knicks never trailed after the first quarter, pulled away in the fourth and took a controlling 113-102 win over the Hawks in Game 1 of the first round.

Despite a late 11-0 Atlanta run, the. Hawks never got closer than an eight-point deficit after the Knicks extended their lead in the fourth.

Jalen Brunson led with 28 points. A slow-starting Karl-Anthony Towns found his game in the second half and finished with 25. CJ McCollum led the Hawks with 26, followed by Jalen Johnson's 23.

The Knicks were excellent defensively, holding Atlanta to 44 percent from the field, and shot 30 free throws to Atlanta's 19, dominating the paint. Game 2 is Monday at Madison Square Garden.

Hawks cut it to eight with 1:39 to go

This one seemed pretty much over with the Knicks up by 19, but an 11-0 Atlanta run has given the Hawks some late life.

Mike Brown called time to calm his team down after a Nickeil Alexander-Walker three. The Knicks should still be in good shape, but a notable shift in momentum here.

Knicks pulling away in fourth quarter

By Ethan Sears

The Hawks hung around all game but the Knicks are starting to extend their lead.

It's up to 16 now -- 103-87 -- with Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordan Clarkson accounting for most of the recent scoring. The Hawks, meanwhile, have just three points in the last three minutes and change.

Karl-Anthony Towns gets going, Knicks hold commanding lead in the fourth

By Ethan Sears

Karl-Anthony Towns hit a three and a layup leading into the break, Deuce McBride provided some scoring off the bench and the Knicks hold a 100-87 lead with 6:26 to go.

The tone of this game still hasn't changed much. The Hawks simply aren't troubling the Knicks much, and they haven't shown the ability to easily score the basketball.

End of 3: Knicks up 83-74 over Hawks

By Ethan Sears

Well, hopefully the fourth quarter doesn't take that long.

The story of the third quarter was at the free throw line, where the Knicks constantly seemed to be. They're 19-of-23 at the line so far compared to 8-of-10 for the Hawks.

As has been the case all game long, the Knicks continue to hold Atlanta at arm's length going into the fourth,

Knicks up 77-71 late in third quarter

By Ethan Sears

The Knicks are one Atlanta run away from being in trouble. But that's been the case all game long and the run still hasn't come.

It's been a fairly slow third quarter so far, but the Knicks are still in control. Jalen Brunson has 26 points and the Knicks are doing a good job controlling the glass. Nickiell Alexander-Walker has been fairly invisible for the Hawks, with just nine points on 3-of-11 shooting.

Hawks go to Hack-a-Mitch midway through third

By Ethan Sears

Mouhamed Gueye fouls Mitchell Robinson twice in a row and here we go. Robinson made 1 of 2 at the line, and we'll see if the Hawks keep going to this strategy.

The Knicks are up 73-63 after a Mikal Bridges transition dunk followed the Robinson free throw.
