Heroes, zeros from Knicks’ Game 1 NBA Finals win over Spurs: De’Aaron Fox was weak link in brutal showing

By Zach Braziller

Zero

De’Aaron Fox missed 10 of 13 shots from the field and was a Spurs weak link.

The former All-Star had been inconsistent in the Western Conference finals, and he struggled in the series opener. His missed jumper in the lane that could’ve pulled the Spurs even with 1:31 left was apropos of his night.

He spoke about how he felt his late mom's presence during the game, and how he felt a "calm and a peace."

KAT:

"I just felt a calm and a peace that had to be come from the woman above (his mom). I felt like a kid. It was just fun out here. It felt like I was a kid getting ready to go play my Saturday AAU games and Sunday AAU games. In a way I felt like I was seeing her in the… pic.twitter.com/iGj4FwxL8C

It was a rough night for Wembanyama, who shot just 6-of-21 despite finishing 26 points.

Mitch Johnson, though, is optimistic his young star will figure things out.

"He definitely holds himself accountable, I would suspect he'll learn a lot of things from tonight's game and come out with a good approach in Game 2"

That's it... KNICKS TAKE GAME 1

By Jake Nisse

A wild, weird, at times sloppy Game 1 ends in a 105-95 win for the Knicks.

The Spurs blew a 14-point lead, the Knicks blew an eight-point lead, and we were tied with roughly two minutes to go.

The Knicks - led by the tireless Brunson - held their nerve and are now just three wins away from a title.

Insult to injury... Knicks win challenge

The Knicks were in good shape anyways, but Foster has just given the ball back to the Knicks on a challenge.

An eight-point lead with 20 seconds left, and the Spurs crowd is silent.
