Stephon Marbury will be in Boston tomorrow to meet the press and he’ll likely dress for their game vs. the Pacers. The Celtics have waited a long time since giving Marbury a verbal commitment in January and are wasting no time in signing him and getting him acclimated.

Marbury, in his first interview Wednesday since being put on waivers,, defended his five-year stint with the Knicks that featured just one playoff berth and multiple controversies.

“One person can’t bring you to the playoffs or win a championship,” Marbury told me. “Michael Jordan proved it. You need a team to do it. I respect the fans, but it takes a team to do it, not an individual. People want to put the blame on me, that’s fine. ”

Marbury has been ordered by the Players’ Association and Celtics to limit his comments till he gets to Boston Friday.

“I’m happy about moving forward,” Marbury said. “That’s all I wanted to do from the beginning. I can’t tell you how happy I am now. I was the happiest guy in Times Square.”

Doc Rivers said yesterday when asked why he’d want Marbury: “Because we want to be defending champions again next year.”

Marbury and the Knicks reached a buyout agreement at a Times Square law firm Tuesday during what was supposed to be a hearing on his $400,000 fine.
