Of course Mike Francesa ripped Michael Jordan for gambling in Atlantic City during the 1993 Eastern Conference final. And of course, his take proved to be way off-base.
The longtime WFAN host appeared during the sixth episode of ESPN’s “The Last Dance” documentary Sunday night. The series examined Jordan’s gambling habits and the storm that rose out of Jordan’s late-night trip after the Bulls fell behind the Knicks 2-0 in the series.
“What it shows me is a lack of commitment for what is the goal right now, and that is to win a third championship,” Francesa says in the clip.
Unsurprisingly, the Bulls reeled off four straight wins to topple the Knicks before going on to capture that third straight NBA title. Jordan scored 54 points in Game 4, the most points anyone scored against the Knicks in a playoff game.
