The fireworks started early.

The 2025 NBA trade deadline is here and the framework of the league already changed with the Lakers acquiring Luka Doncic from the Mavericks for Anthony Davis.

Shortly after, a three-team trade sent De’Aaron Fox to the Spurs and Bulls star Zach LaVine went to the Kings. Following that, the Jimmy Butler saga finally came to an end with a trade that sent him to the Warriors.

Spurs considered Trae Young before De’Aaron Fox NBA trade deadline deal

By Dylan Svoboda

Trae Young was nearly a San Antonio Spur.

NBA insider Chris Haynes said Thursday that San Antonio mulled a trade for the star Hawks point guard before their blockbuster deal for De’Aaron Fox this week.

“Before the San Antonio Spurs made the move for De’Aaron Fox, they were considering De’Aaron and they were considering Trae Young,” Haynes said during an appearance on NBA TV. “Trae Young was on the San Antonio Spurs’ radar.”

Young, 26, has spent his entire seven-year career in Atlanta after being drafted No. 5 overall in the 2018 NBA Draft out of Oklahoma.

Suns’ fraught NBA trade deadline manifested a ‘toxic’ locker room

By Erich Richter

Kevin Durant is staying in Phoenix as another tumultuous second half and ensuing offseason comes into focus for the Suns.

As the 2025 NBA trade deadline came and went for the Suns Thursday, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported on “NBA Today” that the team had a very awkward shootaround ahead of Wednesday’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“I’ll use ‘toxic’,” Shelburne said, describing the Suns’ locker room after a tough trade deadline that saw most players floated in deals. “That shootaround, I heard, was very awkward, very weird because everyone was on pins and needles wondering what they were going to do.”

The deadline is done, but the moves may not be

By Michael Blinn

The 3 p.m. deadline has come and gone, but players can still be on the move.

Those waived by March 1 are still eligible to play for a new team in the postseason -- but for teams like the Knicks, there's a caveat.

Per The Post's Peter Botte:

"Because they are at the first apron for salary cap purposes, however, the Knicks cannot sign anyone in the buyout market whose contract this season was above the 2024-25 mid-level exception of $12.82 million."

The Trade Deadline No-Move Club

By Michael Blinn

Only four teams stood pat at a frantic trade deadline, not being involved in a single move:

- Blazers
- Magic
- Nuggets
- Timberwolves

Twenty-six teams were involved in at least one trade, at least a facilitator.
