ONE of the new faces in the Hamptons this summer is Miami developer and author R. Donahue Peebles, who paid $5.4 million for a 10-acre Bridgehampton compound featuring an 8,000-square-foot, five- bedroom French Palla dian house. Peebles plans to summer there with his family while he pens his next business book for Wiley & Sons. His first, “The Peebles Princi ples,” came out in April. “It’s hard not to like Peebles, an affable guide whose grandfather was a Washington, D.C., door man for 41 years,” Pub lishers Weekly said. The book was also described as part “Art of the Deal” and part “Why Should White Guys Have All the Fun?” African- American Peebles – who recently bought 13 acres in Las Vegas to build the first five-star non-gaming hotel – is also renovat ing the Bath Club in Miami Beach, once seg regated and the oldest private club in the Southeast. Peebles has already been seen out and about in the Hamptons with the likes of fashion designer Nicole Miller and author/radio host Steven Gaines.
