The Knicks announced Wednesday Gene Cross will be the head coach of their D-League affiliate, the Erie BayHawks, this season.

Cross, who spent two years as the head coach at the University of Toledo, was an assistant with the D-League’s Iowa Energy last season.

He spent his entire career in the college game as an assistant at several stops, including DePaul, Virginia and Notre Dame, before getting the Toledo job.

Since resigning from Toledo in 2010 after going 11-51 in two seasons, Cross has been an assistant in the D-League with the Utah Flash, Maine Red Claws and the Energy.
