Luka Doncic is going to have to carry the Mavericks again.
His fellow Dallas star, Kristaps Porzingis, will miss his second straight game of the thrilling series against the Clippers, which is tied 2-2 with Game 5 on Tuesday night. Porzingis has been dealing with lingering soreness in his right knee — not the same leg he tore his ACL in when he was with the Knicks.
Tests have not revealed any structural damage. Porzingis, 25, had been a dominant force in the first three games of the series, averaging nearly 24 points per game, and Game 1 turned to the Clippers’ advantage over the Latvian’s controversial ejection. This season is Porzingis’ first trip to the playoffs.
Doncic scored 43 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer, in the Mavericks’ 135-133 win on Sunday afternoon. Two other former Knicks, Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr., added 46 combined points to keep Dallas in the game and will be counted on again Tuesday.
